I teach TECHNIQUES!
Painting is a PROCESS.
Adult beginners and improvers generally want to see that they can go from start to finish in a series of STEPS.
I’m very structured in the way I teach, but that doesn’t mean that I expect students to end up with the same painting !
I DEMONSTRATE a lot, then I circulate to help students as they practice techniques. My belief is that adult students need to be exposed to a whole range of products, techniques and skills FIRST. Then…..when the student feels a bit confident…….they can start getting creative!
IT DOESN’T MATTER. The truth is, no one can’t actually teach you to draw in 2 and a half hours a week. SO…..I have all sorts of cheat sheets ….templates…and ways to print the outline of an image onto paper and canvas ….so that you can use those images as guides. (That’s what lots of professional artists do anyway!)
NOPE. Most adults just THINK they’re not artistic. That’s because they haven’t actually had much OPPORTUNITY to make art…..and they certainly haven’t been shown HOW to paint and nor have they PRACTISED. Art is like anything……if you practise -practise- practise…..you’ll crack the code ! You just have to be prepared to have ( as Bob Ross said) a few ‘happy little accidents’ along the way!
Acrylic paints and inks are my main teaching mediums, but I also use pens , pencils, charcoal, gels, foils, vinyl , etc etc. Students receive an ART KIT on day one of the term classes. I provide all class materials after that…… ( apart from canvases if you want to paint final compositions on one). If you want to paint at home, you’ll need to buy your own paints and inks ( I’ll tell you where you can buy them )
All materials included, including paper , paints, inks , charcoal, vinyl, texturing mediums, gel mediums, specialist pens etc etc ( I have LOTS of resources! )
IF you want to a paint your final composition on a canvas, you will need to supply your own.
This is the basic kit. The brushes will always be included but some of the other items might be added to … or swapped out…. depending on what is needed for the classes attended
Brushes and an A4 clearfile will always be included …but some of the other items might be swapped in or out….depending on what us required for the classes This would be a typical Art Kit that you’d be given on the first day of your weekly classes.
Individual Art kits are not provided to the students in one or two day workshops

CANCELLATIONS ? If you’ve booked into a class, I can only offer refunds if you cancel 14 days ( or more) before the class start date. That’s because most students book well in advance, and last minute bookings are not the norm.
REFUNDS ? Sorry. I am unable to give refunds for classes missed. You are welcome to send a friend to take your place if you have to miss a class.
SWAPS ? In general, if you are booked into a particular class, you won’t be able to swap into another one. In exceptional circumstances, please contact me , and I might be able to find a space in a different class. There are no guarantees, however. If the other classes are full…I can’t oversubscribed them.
